Omega 3 is an essential nutrient that your dog’s body cannot produce on its own.

The best sources of Omega-3, like small fish, algae, and krill, aren't usually a part of a typical dog's diet in India.

To fulfil our dog’s need for Omega-3, we developed the Honst 30% Omega 3 Fish Oil.

Honst 30% Omega 3 Sardine Fish Oil

Why Honst is better

  • Highest Omega 3 concentration, with at least 30% EPA & DHA
  • Made of only two ingredients: pure sardine fish oil & Vitamin E
  • 3rd-party lab tested to ensure high standards of safety
  • No pump mechanism to ensure the oil stays fresh for a longer time
Key Ingredients

Frequently asked questions

Both Sardine and Salmon are good sources of Omega-3 Fatty acids. The Indian Oil Sardine (the sub-species of sardine from which our fish oil is made) are known to have a higher concentration of Omega 3 than most varieties of Salmons. They have lower mercury toxicity on account of being smaller in size than salmon. They are also locally sourced in India, making it better than most salmon oil in the market, who have questionable sources.

The Honst Omega 3 fish oil is a health supplement and doesn’t need a veterinarian’s prescription to be fed to your dog. Having said that, it’s always best to check with your veterinarian or nutritionist for the recommended dosage. This is especially true for dogs that have existing health issues or are currently on medication.

Honst Omega 3 Fish oil for dogs supports skin, joint, heart, and brain health, but it isn’t a medicine or a cure for diseases. Its high Omega 3 content helps reduce inflammation, alleviate joint pain, improves skin and coat health, boosts heart health and performs other functions for the health and wellbeing of our dogs. However it does not cure them of the underlying disease that may be causing the symptoms. If your dog is suffering from health ailments, please check with your vet for the recommended medication.

If your dog is used to having fish oil, you can start with the recommended dosage as per our dosage chart right away. Keep an eye on your dog’s poop and symptoms like lethargy, loosies or vomiting for the first few days of starting the honst fish oil. If you see any of the above, please stop the oil and start again with half dosage after a few days. You can then increase to the full recommended dose after 4-5 days, provided your dog is not showing any of the above symptoms.

There are no major side effects of Omega 3 on dogs. Some dogs may encounter discomfort or loosies, vomiting or lethargy in the first few days of using the oil as their bodies need time to get used to the new ingredient. Some dogs may initially go through an adjustment period and have side effects such as vomiting, loose stools or lethargy.

Please ensure you are giving only the recommended dosage as per your vet/nutritionist or the dosage chart we have provided. Overfeeding fish oil can also cause weight gain, slow healing of wounds, or affect blood clotting. If you notice any of the above-mentioned symptoms, stop the fish oil and consult your vet immediately.

The Honst Omega 3 fish oil itself doesn’t cause black stools. However, if your dog has a pre-existing gut issue, the added fat from fish oil can aggravate it. Some dogs are also sensitive to sudden dietary changes or have trouble metabolizing fats.

If your dog is having black poop, it's best to discontinue use of fish oil for a few days and restart again with a smaller dosage before slowly increasing to the full dosage.

Feeding the Honst fish oil to your dog regularly can lead to several visible and noticeable changes in your dog. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Shinier coat in 3–4 weeks
  • Less itching/dandruff in 4–6 weeks
  • Improvement in Mobility in 5–8 weeks
  • Improvement in Mood & Temperament in 6–12 weeks

Please note that to see visible results, you need to follow the recommended routine of providing a balanced meal, grooming your dog everyday and ensuring that your dog is getting ample exercise and rest along with feeding the fish oil regularly.

No, please do not feed fish oil to your dogs if they are allergic to fish.

You can give fish oil to your dog daily and even long-term, as part of a healthy routine - as long as the dosage is appropriate and your dog tolerates it well.

Please note that prolonged omega-3 supplements may in some cases lead to Vitamin E depletion. It is recommended to supplement with a high-quality Vitamin E source alongside fish oil. The supplement should contain natural forms of Vitamin E such as d-alpha tocopherol (this is what is added in the Honst fish oil) or mixed tocopherols. Natural sources of Vitamin E include sunflower seeds or oil, wheatgerm oil, and eggs.

If Vitamin-E supplement isn’t being given, it’s best to limit fish oil use to 3-4 months at a time, followed by a 1-2 month break before resuming.

Your bottle must make a click noise when closed. If it doesn’t, please reach out to us and let us know within 7 days, we will replace the bottle - no questions asked.

Yes, the Honst Omega 3 Fish oil is suitable for dogs of all breeds above 4 months of age.
